Mind the Gap

Mind the Gap for Solo Flute was completed during the first two weeks of composition studies with Professor Samuel Adler (The Juilliard School, NY) in the summer of 2012 in Berlin, Germany. The title of the work references both the motivic importance of large leaps in the piece, in particular quick Major 9th’s, as well as the well-known announcement used at every Tube stop in the London underground, the city I visited just prior to Berlin. The piece was premiered on July 4th, 2012 by Aaron Dan (http://www.berlincounterpoint.com/) at the Neue Synagoge in Berlin.
