Upcoming Performance: Collaborative dance performance – The Artist as Leader: Meet Bill T. Jones on 3/8/2016

on becoming (2016) for alto sax, viola, cello, and melodica will be premiered at the Visions and Voices event The Artist as Leader: Meet Bill T. Jones featuring dancers from the USC Kaufman School of Dance and choreography by Bill T. Jones. Held in Bovard Auditorium on the USC campus, the event will feature compositions by USC Thornton School of Music in an adaptation of Bill T. Jones’s multidisciplinary work Story/Time. Admission is free but reservations are required.

Upcoming Performance: “out of nothing” world premiere on 3/6/2016

out of nothing (2016) for piano trio will receive its world premiere on March 6th, 2016 in Alfred Newman Recital Hall on the campus of USC. The piece will be performed at the USC Spring Composition Showcase by musicians from the Thornton School of Music including Tiffany Chung (violin), Rainer Crosett (cello), and Dawoon Chung (piano).

Upcoming Performance: “A Trip Takes Us” world premiere with the Philharmonia Northwest on 11/22/15

A Trip Takes Us for brass quintet will receive its world premiere on Sunday, November 22nd in Seattle, WA. Jointly commissioned by Mercer Island High School Band Boosters and Philharmonia Northwest, the piece will be performed by the MIHS Brass Quintet as part of Philharmonia Northwest’s program The Old and the New, part of the Philharmonia’s 40th anniversary season.

Upcoming Performance: Rhízōma with the UT Percussion Ensemble

Rhízōma for percussion quartet will be performed on Tuesday, April 14th by the UT Percussion Group under the direction of Tom Burritt. The concert will be in Bates Recital Hall on the University of Texas at Austin campus and will start at 7:30pm. Other composers on the program include Maki Ishii, Thad Anderson, Mark Mellits, and Thom Hasenpflug.
