Due to a lack of posted updates on this website through the Covid-19 pandemic (starting March 2020), I figured I should recap some highlights of projects and performances that have taken place in the subsequent time.
- I’d known this place for clarinet and live electronics, commissioned by Katrina Clements, was completed and recorded in early 2020. Dr. Clements featured the piece in guest lectures at institutions including the Peabody Clarinet Studio, Ithaca College Clarinet Studio, Minnesota Clarinet Academy, and the Kutztown University Clarinet Studio. I’d known this place was premiered on April 18th, 2021 at the OH MY EARS New Music Festival in Tempe, AZ, and has been subsequently performed at the College Music Society 2022 Southwest Regional Conference on February 27th, 2022 and at the International Clarinet Association ClarinetFest 2022 in Reno, NV on July 2nd, 2022.
- The album Strata, a compilation of three large-scale compositions, was released on June 11th, 2021 on Bandcamp and all streaming platforms. The album features Memoryscapes, a 25-minute piece for sinfonietta and electronics performed by the USC Thornton Edge, conducted by Donald Crockett, I’d known this place, a 10-minute piece for clarinet and live electronics performed by Katrina Clements, and Enfolding, a 17-minute fixed-media piece featuring performances by Nick Bentz on violin, Emma McCartney on flute, and myself on electric guitar and electronic processing.
- I continue in my role as a Lecturer in the Department of Composition / Theory and Analysis at the USC Thornton School of Music. Currently in my fifth year as a lead instructor at USC, I teach courses is composition, theory, aural skills, and orchestration.
Updates will be coming soon regarding the release of a new album and upcoming performances and/or residencies in 2023… stay tuned!
